This one is for all the English teachers out there! Myles Klynhout, Lina Gordyshevskaya and I will be hosting our first ELT Lesson Jam on Saturday, 12th September.
A jam session is a relatively informal musical event where musicians come together to play improvised solos and develop new material.
So what does a ‘jam session’ look like for English teachers?
Well, Jammin’ together is a social event for teachers to connect via Zoom, improvise, and share ideas. And there will also be plenty of time to get to know one another during the session.
In this session, teachers are asked to bring along a quick lesson idea or activity. You’ll form the perfect ‘band’ by being teamed up with 3-4 teachers in a breakout room. Each teacher then has around 6 minutes to present their idea, and 6 minutes to get feedback from fellow teachers.
Teachers will give both written & spoken feedback to their peers with the help of google jamboard. If you are not familiar with google jamboard – not to worry. We will run through a very quick demo at the start of the session.
The breakout rooms will be equipped with a google jamboard where teachers can quickly add sticky notes to summarise the pros and cons of each lesson idea. Then, there is around 5 minutes for teachers to expand on these points and discuss ways to further improve the lesson ideas.
When all is said and done, at the end of the lesson jam you’ll walk away with a handful of classroom ideas for the new semester!
Hope you can make it! 😃
