Time for your Experimental Practice?

Leaning towards Dogme?

Need some help finding books or activities?

Have a read.

If you’re doing Delta Module 2, apart from your LSAs, you will need to write a Professional Development Assignment (PDA). Part B of the PDA is the Experimental Practice (EP). You have to teach an experimental lesson , i.e. to try out a new approach for the first time. You basically need to:

  • research your topic/ approach/ procedure, etc.
  • write an essay and a lesson plan
  • teach the lesson
  • write your reflection and evaluation.

Personally, I don’t know anyone who’s failed their PDA; if you do, perhaps you can leave a comment and tell us more about it.

As always, you should read the Delta handbook and make sure you know what you need to do in order to meet all the criteria. You can also check out ELT concourse, as it provides a lot of useful information ; it’s the best DELTA-related website, as far as I’m concerned.

My experimental lesson  was based around Dogme. I really enjoyed reading more about it; I also realised that it’s more than just entering a classroom and going with the flow.

My group at the time, was a mix of elementary and low intermediate adult students. Their post-lesson feedback was extremely positive, so I’m definitely going to do Dogme-style classes again in the future.

You can download my PDA_experimental_practice_ . If you do, I’d love your feedback, so  leave a comment and let me know what you think about it.

I hope this helps give you some ideas; but remember, Cambridge will check your work for plagiarism. Use it wisely!
